Paul Cheung Wing-hung entered film in the 1970s. In 1979, he started working as assistant director and had worked with such noted directors as Cheng Kang, Tsui Hark, Peter Yung, Ronny Yu, Kirk Wong, Stanley Kwan, Patrick Tam, Jackie Chan, Lawrence Lau, Clifton Ko and Stephen Chow.
Cheung had directed one film, Hearts No Flowers (1989), a youth film about four city lasses, written by the scriptwriter Chiu Kang-chien and starring Maggie Cheung, Irene Wan and May Lo.
He left the film industry in 1995.
