 Biography

Jeffrey Chiang Kar-chun was born in 1957. He started out as a production assistant at Rediffusion (ATV) and was promoted to director a year later. He went to Taiwan in 1983 to work as a television director and returned to Hong Kong in 1986 to take up the position of senior director at TVB, where he remained until 1992. He made his feature film debut in 1990 with The Other Half, starring Carol Cheng and Eric Tsang. He subsequently directed more than ten works including Mainland Dundee (1991), The Prince of Temple Street (1992), Dream Killer (1995), The Killer Has No Return (1996). Chiang later set up his production base in Mainland China, directing more than 40 TV series to date, most of which centre around urban romances, including Boy & Girl (2003), Unbeatable, series 1-3 (2010-13), My Sassy Girl (2012), The Lady in Cubicle (2013) and The War of Beauties (2013). His works are known for their meticulous detail, beautiful imagery and sense of modern style. He also directed the time-traveling TV series The Myth (2010), produced by Jackie Chan and Stanley Tong.
