To know the creative thinking of a director, take a look at his directorial work. To know the character and personality of a director, ask those who had worked with him.
Even with extraordinary will power, a director cannot finish a film by himself. In the production of a film, personal strength is limited and the director must rely on team work to realize the fanciful ideas and designs. To allow the team to understand the demands and to lead it to its best performance are the most primitive of a director’s functions. A director who has harmony with his team will perform like fish in water; if not, he will be isolated and helpless, which is the loneliest feeling in the world. A director should overcome loneliness to communicate with patience before reaching success. Such is the work of a director.
Born in Hong Kong in 1964, Cub Chien Kong-hon joined the film industry in 1985, working on capacities that include continuity, assistant director, producer, scriptwriter, actor, composer and director. He had also had extensive experience in CG productions.
Chien started working with the Pang brothers Danny and Oxide in 2006, serving as writer and assistant director for Recycle (2006); assistant director for The Messenger (2007); associate producer and writer for Forest of Death (2007); action choreographer and assistant director for Bangkok Dangerous 2.0 (2008); and assistant director for The Storm Warriors (2009).
He later teamed up with Pang and five young filmmakers to direct the youth comedy See You in You Tube (2008), for which he wrote and associate produced. He then made his solo directorial debut with Scared 2 Die (2008), followed by The Vampire Who Admires Me (2008).
In 2012, Chin began working in China, working on the Raymond Yip productions Happy Chinese New Year (2012) and Blood Stained Shoes (2012). He then directed the horror comedy Mortician (2013) in China.
