 Biography

John Hau Wing-choi entered the film industry in 1982, and started out as an art director, costume designers and image designer. In his three-decade plus career, he had taken part in over 70 film productions including Nomad (1982), Winners & Sinners (1983), Love with the Perfect Stranger (1985), Sweet Surrender (1986), The Missed Date (1986), Woman Prison (1988), Doubles Cause Troubles (1989) and Kawashima Yoshiko (1990). He received the Best Make-Up and Costume Award for Kawashima Yoshiko at the 27th Golden Horse Awards. Beginning with Call Girl ’92 (1992), Hau started to take on the role of producer, and was responsible for such films as Love Among the Triad (1993), Emotional Girl - Doubt of Distress (1993), Why Wild Girls (1994) and How Deep Is Your Love (1994).

In 1994, Hau directed his first film, Right Here Waiting…, which he also produced. He then followed up with more than a dozen films including Passion Unbounded (1995), Hong Kong Showgirls (1996), Boy’s? (1996), Passionate Nights (1997) and Crazy (1999), among others. His latest work was The Pretty Women (2008), filmed in Shanghai. In 2013, he turned his first film, Right Here Waiting… into a stage play about urban romance which was performed in Shanghai.
