Lee Yuen-ching was born in Hong Kong in 1961, the younger brother of television producer and film director Lee Yuen-for. Lee entered the film industry in 1986, doing continuity and serving as assistant director on films directed or produced by Tsui Siuming. He had worked on films such as Mirage (1987), Born to Defend (1988), Mistaken Identity (1988), The Revenge of Angel (1990) and Bury Me High (1991).
Lee has one directorial credit to his name, for the voodoo horror film Blood Ritual (1989), starring Norman Tsui.
