Lo Kim-wah, also known as Lo Sheung-ching, joined Cinema City in 1983 and took part in over a dozen films as gofer and assistant director. He became a executive director in 1993, and got the chance to direct his first film, They Don’t Care About Us, in 1996. He went on to direct several more features, including Sunshine Cops (1999), Marooned (2000), Shadow (2001), The Irresistible Piggies (2002) and We Are Family (2006, co-directed with Clifton Ko Chi-sum). After directing Open to Midnight (2007) in Taiwan, Lo recently helmed the romantic comedy China Good Groom in Mainland China, to be released in 2014.
Since becoming a director, Lo has also served on many other productions as production manager, line producer, assistant director or deputy director, including big budget productions like The Warlords (2006), Red Cliff (2007) and Bodyguards and Assassins (2009), as well as works by younger directors such as Murderer (2008), What Women Want (2010) and Nightfall (2011).
