Jacky Pang Yee-wah joined the film industry in the late 1980s, participating in producing and as assistant director, working on such films as director Jamie Luk’s Reincarnation (1987) and Andy Chin’s Gift from Heaven (1989), on which she doubled as producer, and Call Girl 92 (1992). She also produced Tragic Hero (1987), The Dream is Yours (1988) and Saviour of the Soul (1991), the latter written by Wong Ka-wai and directed by David Lai, Corey Yuen Kuei and Jeff Lau. She also produced Wong Ka-wai’s masterpiece Days of Being Wild (1990), beginning a long collaboration with the world-renowned director.
In the early 1990s, Pang directed three films, the romantic comedy Rose Rose I Love You (1993) and the gambler films Lover of the Swindler (1993) and Always be the Winners (1994), all three starring Tony Leung Ka-fai and the last one pairing Leung with the other Tony Leung of Hong Kong cinema, Chiu Wai.
The main focus of Pang’s work remained her association with Wong Ka-wai, producing all of his major works since Days of Being Wild : Chung King Express (1994), Ashes of Time (1994), Fallen Angels (1995), Happy Together (1997), In the Mood for Love (2000), Eros (2004), 2046 (2004), Blueberry Nights (2004) and The Grandmaster (2013). She is also the CEO of Wong’s production company Jet Tone.
