 Introduction

Simply put, I have only one direction while making films – to go from film to Christianity.

The most difficult aspect is that the primary mission of film is to bring entertainment to the audience. Or laughter, or horror, or sadness, or happiness. Whatever wishes or dreams that cannot be realized in real life, the audiences hopes to find satisfaction in this interlude of light and shadow. As for the message the story tries to convey, as long as it doesn’t deviate too much from universal values and that the goal of being entertained is satisfied, the audience would accept it. Yet, the nuclear message of Christian beliefs, in my understanding, is in great conflict with the missions stated above. True stories of real people can be very cinematic, but the endings will not be the “human wishes answered by heaven” kind audiences hope for but the “heaven’s wishes followed by human” kind that challenges them. Even the notion of love – usually the greatest common denominator – the audience would find that the love in Christian beliefs is not the romantic love between men and women.

This is perhaps my motivation to not abandon the calling of Christian films! Because I believe that eternal value can only be found on a difficult, winding path.
