 Biography

Tong Wai-shing is a well-known action performer, stunts coordinator, director and producer in Hong Kong. He joined the film industry in 1969 and made his debut as an actor in Dead End, directed by Chang Cheh. He was mostly known for playing villains, including memorable roles in The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (1978), Dirty Ho (1979) and Dirty Kung Fu (1980).

Since 1973, he began working as stunts coordinator on such films as The Iron Bull (1973) and Shaolin Mantis (1978), as well as on his own directorial efforts such as Snake Deadly Act (1980), The Young Avenger (1980), Ghost Ballroom (1989) and The Professionals (1998).

Tong became a director in 1979 with his debut, Kung Fu Genius. Later on he also worked as producer and screenwriter. In the 1980 martial arts comedy The Young Avenger, Tang served the triple role of director, stunts coordinator and star. In recent years, Tang has remained active as an actor and stunts coordinator. In the 2009 film To Live and Die in Mongkok, directed by Wong Jing, Tang was not only the action choreographer but also played a cameo role.
