Every time I am in a production I feel that my world view expands: I experience different places, times, people; colors, scents and tastes. I hope I will continue to work with more film production people so we can keep working and keep learning!
Jimmy Wan Chi-man was born in Hong Kong in 1977 and studied Film at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and had directed several independent films as a student. After graduation, he worked in various behind-the-camera roles in films and commercials, including assistant director, associate producer and writer. From 2000 to 2004, he worked as assistant director for such films as I Do (2000), Golden Chicken (2002) and New Police Story (2004). Since 2005, he had co-written with Pang Hocheung and worked as associate producer on Isabella (2006), Exodus (2007), Trivial Matters (2007) and Dream Home (2010).
For years, Wan has been working with director Derek Tsang. Together, Wan and Tsang have co-directed numerous short films, including Alias: 1 of the 4+1 Project (2010), starring Zhou Xun. In 2010, Tsang and Wan’s debut feature film Lover’s Discourse, the fruit of their many years of labor, was released. It was selected to be in competition at the New Currents section of Korea’s Pusan International Film Festival.
