Yiu Tin-hung was born in Hong Kong in 1963. He entered the film industry doing editing work, on films such as Crocodile Hero (1985). He also edited director Khan Chan’s Farewell My Dearest (1995), Wilson Yip’s Raging Angels (1995) and Ricky Lau Koon-wai’s Mongkok Story (1995).
Yiu became a director in the early 1990s, releasing his first two films in the same year. His debut was the ghost film Ghost Killer (1992), followed by the action thriller drama Secret Police (1992), both starring Alex Fong. Since then, he had been balancing his career between directing and editing.
